Worship

I spend my nights up
Looking always east
Waiting

I may walk through gladly
Rain spotted roads and
Exhale patiently the frost
From heart’s heat against wind’s chill
But I am holding steady silent,
Listening carefully for the crunch of your teeth on your words.
Feeling slowly for the chill in your spine,
I am anxious to encounter you
I am impatient to embrace you

Spending valued sleep
Packing up my secrets like scarves
Because it has gotten stuffy
(I do not shiver anymore)
And I am shedding winter skin
Waiting

I spend my nights
Not sleeping,
Waiting for sun
